It is the antithesis of hardware which refers to a computer external components. A device running programs, scripts, and applications are collectively referred to as "software" in this context.

Project Task Board helps you visualize project tasks and their status using a “cards on a wall” metaphor. Create and revise cards to represent tasks throughout the lifetime of your project. Drag cards to desired locations on the wall, or use App Bar commands to auto-arrange in a tiled view or stacked view. It features track project tasks as cards, arrange cards manually or in tile or stacked views, task data includes title, description, priority, color, hours, and owner, color-code task cards (red, yellow, green, blue), save and open projects to local storage or SkyDrive, and share project data with other apps.
