--Computers are managed by software. Software may be divided into three categories: system, utility, and application.
What is the difference between download and install?
--The act of "downloading" a file is distinct from "installing" it. Instructions to utilize the downloaded data to modify your computer are "installing" the file. The file does not alter or be updated if installation is not performed.
What is software used for?
--Software is a collection of instructions, data, or computer programs used to run machines and carry out certain activities. It is the antithesis of hardware which refers to a computer external components. A device running programs, scripts, and applications are collectively referred to as "software" in this context.
wodFtpDLX is secure FTP client ActiveX component that supports encrypted and non-encrypted FTP access to the servers for transferring files. It supports old, very common, FTP protocol, but also secured FTPS (FTP+SSL) and SFTP (FTP+SSH). The Internet brought about new, and efficient ways of transferring files all over the world. Servers can hold enormous amounts of data, with individuals accessing their own accounts through secure means. Implementing server connection into custom application is not an easy thing, but it does become a little more comfortable with predefined component libraries like wodFtpDLX.
Note that this is not a stand-alone product, and can’t just be used to connect to FTP servers. Instead, it provides the required resources to enable custom programs to benefit from FTP file transfer protocols. There are also several sample files for quick accommodation, with support for languages like ASP, BCB, Delphi, HTML, VB, VBS, and VC.
More than that, the component can be customized in order to set up connection through FTPS, which is a secure FTP connection with SSL, as well as SFTP, a FTP protocol with SSH encryption. All protocols are handled in the same manner, requiring no extra tweaks.
The package also contains the means to allow client authentication by assigning corresponding certificate files. File management can be handled in two ways. One of them runs all transfer processes in the background, while the other provides a visual interface for user authentication, and custom connection to a target server.
FtpDLX component is FTP (or, better to say, file-transfer) client component. Not only it provides old fashion FTP protocol, it allows you also to use secured SFTP (Secure-Shell version 2 subsystem, very popular on UNIX), and FTP+SSL protocols as well. Using different protocols is completely transparent for usage. You have same interface and different protocol – just by changing one property!
wodFtpDLX also support client certificate authentication if your server allows/requires it. Besides that – it has its own explorer-like window. You can (with no coding at all!) provide your users direct visual interaction with files and directories on the server.
