Developer’s Description

This software offers a solution to users who want to save all charts as images in one or more Excel files. The user can specify a list of files or an entire folder for conversion. Excel 2000 or higher requiredIn this article you will learn how to save your Excel chart as an image (.png, .jpg, .bmp etc. ) or export it to another file such as a Word document or PowerPoint presentation.

Microsoft Excel is one of the most powerful tools for data analysis that provides plenty of features and special options to visualize your data. Charts (or graphs) is one of such options and creating a chart in Excel is as easy as selecting your data and clicking an appropriate chart icon.

But what has strengths usually has it weaknesses. The weak point of Excel charts is the lack of an option to save them as images or to export to another file. It would be really nice if we could simply right-click a graph and see something like “Save as image” or “Export to“. But since Microsoft did not bother to create such features for us, we’ll figure something out on our own 🙂

In this article I will show you 4 ways of saving an Excel chart as an image, so that you can insert it in other Office applications like Word and PowerPoint, or use to create some nice infographics:

Copy a chart to a graphics program and save as picture

A friend of mine told me once how she usually copies her Excel charts to Paint. What she does is create a chart and click PrintScreen, then open Paint and pastes the image of the entire screen. After that she crops the redundant screen areas and saves the remaining part to a file. If you do it this way too, forget about it and never use this childish method again! There is a quicker and smarter way 🙂

As an example, I created a nice 3-D Pie graph in my Excel 2010 that visually represents the demographics of our web site’s visitors and now I want to export this Excel chart as image. What we do is as follows:

  1. Right-click somewhere on the chart border and click Copy. Do not place the cursor within the chart; this may select individual elements rather than the whole graph and you won’t see the Copy command.

This software offers a solution to users who want to save all charts as images in one or more Excel files. The user can specify a list of files or an entire folder for conversion. Excel 2000 or higher required.

The XLS/XLSX format is useful for processing data with Microsoft Excel. However, if someone wants to see the chart without the hassle of Excel, it’s best to convert it into a commonly used format like JPEG as virtually modern devices support the extension.

But how to convert a complex Excel chart into a simple plain image format? Taking a screenshot is one quick way, yet it’s not the most elegant solution. Instead, we are going to go through some of the best methods to save an Excel chart as an image.

The image would appear sharp, detailed, and most or all content from in the chart is covered. You may try each one of these methods to find the perfect way for your use case.

Excel has a lot of useful in-built charts and you can also combine and create some amazing combination charts as well. Excel charts are a great way to show your data visually and are often the most used ones when you have to present it to your manager/clients.

While your charts may be in Excel, it’s not necessary that it’s the best way to show them to your clients/managers. Often, it would be required to show these charts in a PowerPoint presentation or in an MS Word document of PDFs.

It would have been great had their been an in-built feature to save Excel charts as images, but that’s not the case.

However, there are some ways you can easily save and export charts in Excel as images (JPG, PNG, BMP are some popular ones), and in this tutorial, I will cover these methods.

The method I use would depend on how many charts you have. If you only have a couple of charts that you want to save as images, you can use the copy-paste method, but if you have many, it’s better to use the ‘download as HTML’ or VBA methods.

Microsoft Excel has a lot of tools to perform calculations and edit or display data in useful ways. One such option is to select a range of cells and use that data to create a chart or a graph. But if you have ever tried to save only that chart or graph as a picture so that you could share it or use it elsewhere, then you may have run into a problem. The steps in this article are going to show you how to create an image file from a chart or graph in one of your Excel files using Excel 2016.

Excel has many uses for managing and manipulating data, including the ability to generate charts or graphs from the data in your spreadsheet.

Sometimes these charts or graphs are merely additional features and the data itself is the main focus for you and other readers, but occasionally the chart or graph may be the only part that’s necessary.

If you have a chart or graph in Excel and you would like to save it as an image to use in another application or to share with others, then it’s possible to copy the Excel chart or graph and paste it into an image program, then save that file.
