What is the difference between download and install?

--The act of "downloading" a file is distinct from "installing" it. Instructions to utilize the downloaded data to modify your computer are "installing" the file. The file does not alter or be updated if installation is not performed.

What is software used for?

--Software is a collection of instructions, data, or computer programs used to run machines and carry out certain activities. It is the antithesis of hardware which refers to a computer external components. A device running programs, scripts, and applications are collectively referred to as "software" in this context.

GOIM (Gamers Own Instant Messenger) is a full featured jabber / XMPP client with special features (extensions) for gamers. (e.g. broadcasting a notification when you join a server, or seeing which games others play and joining them with one click on the game icon beside their name). It also features an InGame Messenger which supports most DX8 games and supports the jabber XFireGateway which allows communication with your XFire buddies. Version 1.1 may include release adds an InGameMessenger for DX8 games and a GameServer Browser for HLSW serverlists. In alo contains bugfixes and enhancements, like better linux/macOS support, support for jabber file transfer and allows customization of game launch commands.
